Oklahoma State University's
Summer Science Academy 2002

This academy is a one week resedential camp organized by Dr. Melanie Page for high school and middle school students from all over Oklahoma.  This year it lasted from June 9th to June 16th.  We are required to make a web page showcasing all that we have done and learned over the course of the week.  Thank you for taking the time to look at our rushed work!

Studies

We participated in many classes while we stayed in the Parker dorms at OSU.  We learned a lot about crows and birds from Dr. Caffrey.  We never knew that crows could mimick so many different sounds, including humans speaking English.  (You'll have to ask Dr. Caffrey about that story.)  We also learned about bees, human psychology, and the human brain from Dr. Abramson.  We got bees drunk in that class.  We were shown ink blots and asked what they meant to us.  We also had the opportunity to touch, hold, and examine a human brain.  We learned about statistics from Dr. Page.  We learned that the results can be misleading, depending on how you ask the questionairres.  We are smarter because of this camp.

Activities

We participated in many fun activities, including the Ropes Course at Camp Redlands.  We will also be going to Frontier City on Saturday.  We had lots of fun playing games like Capture the Flag and going to Shakey's and Hideaway.
