The 2006 Annual OSU Staff Appreciation Day was
held on November 2nd, in the Student Union Little Theater. The
event, sponsored by the OSU Staff Advisory Council, is an awards
and recognition program for the approximately 4,000 members of OSU
staff.
Albert Colom, Vice President of Enrollment
Management and Margeketing, and Dr. Lee Bird, Vice President,
Student Affairs, congratulated the individual award winners. SAC
Chair Carey Warner acted as the Master of Ceremonies.
Seven members of the OSU staff were recognized
with the Distinguished Staff Award. The award recognizes
individuals for going above and beyond their normal job duties.
Nomination forms are distributed to all staff and an ad hoc
selection committee carefully reviews and screens the applicants
using a predetermined guideline. The committee then conducts
interviews with the finalist and selects a winner from the pool.

Service
Pins Explained
A significant change in the awarding of the
service pins was recently approved by the Staff Advisory Council.
Previously, the cut-off date for determining when to award pins was June 30th.
This provision prohibited employees completing one of the service periods (5
year, 10 year, 15 year, etc.) later in the calendar year from receiving their
service pin until the next year. Thus, in some cases employees received
the appropriate service pin, 16 months after qualifying for it.
The change will extend the cut-off date to the
end of the calendar year. Any employee completing the required service
during the calendar year will receive the pin during the year the anniversary
was established.
