Coaches versus Cancer
![[Coaches Vs. Cancer 2005 (ACCT05)]](ItemLrgPic3A3295.jpg)
Oklahoma State University has participated in the
Coaches vs Cancer program for 11 years. The committee is comprised of volunteers
from both the OSU campus and the Stillwater community, and the sole purpose is
to raise money on behalf of the men’s and women’s basketball teams to aid in the
fight against cancer.
Money is raised through Corporate Sponsorships, student organizations, and
donations by OSU fans at Cowboy and Cowgirl basketball games. Typically, fans
are asked to donate money per 3-point shot made by the men and/or women during
the year. The OSU Coaches vs Cancer campaign has also generated significant
dollars through the sale of promotional items. Past items have included Coach
Eddie Sutton’s “Scowl on a Stick” and the DefenseDedicationDiscipline orange
wristbands.
In 2004-2005, the OSU committee raised $147,000 in monetary donations. When
donated services are added, the total was $214,000, making it a record
shattering year for the campaign. Although the campaign experienced much
success, there is still much work to be done to find a cure.

HARVEST II FOOD DRIVE
Help less fortunate families in
the Stillwater area by donating to the Harvest II Food Drive. This yearly
event collects approximately 80,000lbs of food. The items are distributed
amongst agencies in Stillwater and Perkins including Domestic Violence Shelter,
Operation Christmas, Payne County Youth Shelter, Salvation Army and others.
The Stillwater drive started in the basement of the
Stillwater Medical Center and collected 3,000lbs of food in 1988.
Harvest II is looking for non-perishable food items including
canned meat, dry food, canned fruit, soups, etc. Pick up
spots are throughout campus and you are encouraged to participate. |

the less fortunate in Stillwater by donating food items to CAN OU. Food items
donated to CAN OU will be donated to Harvest II, a community wide program to
help support local agencies. Watch here to find out where and when to bring your
