The Upward Bound Math and Science Center program includes a Summer Academy at Oklahoma State University. The Summer Academy is funded by the grant. The Summer Academy is a six-week program that simulates a college experience. Coursework focuses upon instruction in math, science, and computers. Students learn from university faculty and researchers in the classroom, the laboratory, and out in the field. Students will also do coursework in a foreign language, composition, and literature. Participants will be housed in a dormitory on the campus in Stillwater during the week and return home for the weekends. The OSU Upward Bound Math & Science Center Summer Academy 2005 dates are June 5 through July 16.

2004 SUMMER COUNSELORS

My name is Alex and I am from Tulsa and majoring in microbiology with a minor in Spanish. I've taken a lot of advanced/honors courses, but I like to take time out and enjoy the unique classes too (like cooking). I am an avid news watcher (I like to keep up on current events). I read (mostly what people suggest and give me). I try to run regularly. I like to travel. I can sleep like a champ. I appreciate good jokes and pranks. Presently, I am obsessed with changes in technology _ I just built a computer and each day that passes, I weep because its no longer top of the line.

I have always enjoyed school, and I hope to show you how doing well in school can make a huge difference in your lives. I enjoy learning about current events, playing tennis, cheerleading, volleyball, and watching TV. If you have any problems, concerns, or just need to someone to talk to, feel free to come to me! I look forward to a great summer of learning and fun!
