Welcome to OSU Educational Talent Search -- WELCOME BACK STUDENTS! -- GET READY FOR ACT WORKSHOPS!

Deborah

Welcome to the Oklahoma State University Educational Talent Search website. Our program serves youth enrolled in the 6th through 12th grades in our target schools. We also serve young adults who wish to complete their high school education. Our goal is to provide academic and career guidance to middle school and high school students so they will complete their high school education and go on to a college of their choice.

We have a lot of fun and educational activities planned for the year. As an OSU-ETS student you will go on campus tours, field trips to museums and other educational sites; participate in workshops on career exploration, the ACT, financial aid, and the college application process; receive academic counseling to make certain you are on the right track for college; and receive free tutoring if needed. Our OSU-ETS Coordinators will meet with you at your schools. This is free to you as we are funded by the U.S. Department of Education.

Students Meet Pete, Win Prizes at Kick Off Classic
August 2007

No one could resist a picture with Pistol Pete this past Saturday at the third annual OSU Educational Talent Search Kick Off Classic.  Students and parents lined up in the Student Union Ballroom to have Pete sign their posters and T-shirts.  One student even has the mascot’s permanent-marker signature on her purse. Twenty-seven ETS students and their families came to this year's Kick Off Classic.

This year, OSU doctoral student Adelina Longoria addressed students and parents about the importance of postsecondary education.  Longoria drew from her similar background and experiences to relate to ETS families from Blackwell, Glencoe, Morrison, Drumright, Bristow and Olive.

Staff, students and family also enjoyed a slideshow presentation recapping the year’s ETS events while enjoying lunch at the round tables set up in the ballroom. Then students eagerly awaited their chance to win door prizes donated by Stillwater businesses. Blackwell High school student Felicia Ebert won a backpack from Wooden Nickel, while BMS student Colbie Curtis won two movie tickets to Carmike Cinema. Kayla Beck won a gift certificate to Chris’s University Spirit. All ETS Students received a backpack filled with school supplies, an ETS planner, coupons and candy from the program. Students and parents perused tables with viewbooks and applications from colleges and universities statewide. After the program, staff took parents and students on a tour of the OSU campus.  Thanks students for a great start to the school year!

OSU ETS Visits OKC National Memorial and Attends RedHawks Games

June 2007

 OSU Wind Ensemble

It has been a busy June for OSU ETS. On June 5th, 27 ETS students attended the OKC National Memorial and RedHawks game field trip, and on June 7, about 40 students attended the field trip.  The event was a reward for students who used their ETS planners throughout the year to build time management and organizational skills.  The students viewed the powerful national memorial through the generosity of Sarkeys Foundation, which sponsored admission costs for both days. Afterward, ETS students enjoyed Hideaway pizza as they watched the OKC RedHawks secure a victory both evenings.
